AN AREA OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT SOUTHEASTERN DOUGLAS...NORTHEASTERN POPE...TODD...NORTHWESTERN STEARNS AND WESTERN MORRISON COUNTIES...

At 629 AM CDT, strong thunderstorms were clustered near Grey Eagle, or 24 miles west of Little Falls, moving northeast at 35 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...

Alexandria, Little Falls, Sauk Centre, Long Prairie, Royalton, Browerville, Clarissa, Randall, Eagle Bend, Upsala, Swanville and Grey Eagle.

This includes the following highways...

  • Interstate 94 in Minnesota between mile markers 105 and 130.
  • U.S. Highway 10 in Minnesota between mile markers 118 and 156.
  • U.S. Highway 71 between mile markers 165 and 207.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Tornado Warning in effect!

At 454 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado

was located over northeastern Ottertail Lake, or 22 miles northeast

of Fergus Falls, moving east at 55 mph.

HAZARD...TORNADO.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Expect damage to mobile homes, roofs, and vehicles.

Henning around 505 AM CDT.

Deer Creek and New York Mills around 510 AM CDT.

Bluffton around 515 AM CDT.

This includes Interstate 94 in Minnesota between mile markers 64 and

70.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest

floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a

mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter

and protect yourself from flying debris.

This cluster of thunderstorms is capable of producing tornadoes and

widespread significant wind damage. Do not wait to see or hear the

tornado. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest

floor of a building.
