(Prior Lake, MN) The Alex Redbirds age 50 and older baseball team traveled to play a doubleheader in Prior Lake on Saturday, September 11th in a beautiful sunny 80 degree day. In the first game Alexandria started with 2 runs in the first but Prior Lake came back and scored 4 off starter Greg Serum in the bottom of the first. Prior Lake continued to build on the lead and won 7 to 2.

Joe Korkowski started the 2nd game and kept the game tight. Prior Lake led 4 to 3 through 4 innings. With Serum and Hollywood on base-- Jeff Kuhn supplied the hitting power and drove both of them home to supply the go ahead runs to lead 5 to 4. Alex went on a terror in the 5th and 6th innings and pushed the lead to a come from behind win 9 to 4. Joe Korkowski shut down the Prior Lake team the last 4 innings and took the pitching victory!

For the day, Hollywood Anderson had 5 hits (3 runs, 1 double, 3 RBI's), Greg "Chewbye" Serum (2 runs), Jerrod Kelley (1 double, 1 triple, 2 RBI's), Jeff Hook, Bob" Broken Bat "Brittin (1 rbi, 1 run) all had 3 hits.  Joe Korkowski (2 bb, 3 sb) had 2 hits. Leo Backhaus and Jeff Kuhn (2 RBI's, 1 sac) had one hit each. Jon Brundell also had one key RBI.

After finishing up with a nice win-- Prior Lake hosted the Redbirds to pulled pork sandwiches and finished up the day up with homemade chocolate chip cookies! Thanks Prior Lake Bald Eagles spouses for the great meal!

The Alexandria Redbirds are now 11 wins and 5 losses. They play a doubleheader starting at 11am at Alex Knute Nelson Field Sunday, Sept 12. (Free admission) They play the 7-7 White Bear Lake team. These are the last home games. Prize drawings will be held between games. Game time temperature will be 69 degrees and guaranteed fun day at the park.
