Alayna Eldred

Alayna Eldred is the 2021 Women's Division Champion of the Resorters. She navigated though a challenging field to post four match play wins in as many days at the Alexandria Golf Club. It marks Eldred's second career Resorters win, having placed first in the Women's Championship Division in 2014.

(Alexandria, MN) -- Alayna Eldred of Osakis captured her second title in the Women's Championship Division during the Resorters Centennial August 7th at the Alexandria Golf Club.

During the final day of the 100th annual Resorters Golf Tournament in Alexandria on Saturday, Alayna Eldred claimed top honors in the Women's Championship Division. It marked the second time in her career that she placed first in that division.

Eldred qualified as the sixth seed in the 16-player Women's Championship bracket. In the audio player below, you can hear her speak with KXRA Radio Sports Director Dave McClurg after she captured top honors in the Women's Championship Division. In the conversation, Eldred believes that the field of competitors in the division this year was the strongest that she has ever been involved with at the Resorters.

On Wednesday, Alayna Eldred began match play with a round-of-16 victory against Emily Monroe, 4-and-3. Eldred faced another outstanding opponent in Thursday's quarterfinal round: Hannah Boraas of Alexandria, who helped lead her Cardinal team to the MSHSL Class AAA State Championship in June. Eldred's strong play on the course translated to another 4-and-3 victory.

A memorable Friday match-up ensued during Friday's semifinals at the Alexandria Golf Club, when Eldred challenged the 2020 Resorters Women's Division Champion, Ale Heinen of Wichita, Kansas. The match would stay tight, as Eldred scored a 3-and-1 win. The outcome reversed the result that the two golfers played in during last year's Women's Championship final.

Alayna Eldred jumped to an early lead in the final round Saturday against Madison Herzog of Detroit Lakes, eventually claiming a 5-and-4 triumph. It marked the second title for Eldred. Seven years ago, she became the youngest golfer to win the Women's Championship title at the age of 14.

When Alayna Eldred became the Resorters Women's Championship Division winner in 2014, she was in the midst of an outstanding prep career representing the Osakis Silverstreaks. Eldred became medalist to win three consecutive Section 6AA titles from 2016 to 2018 and place in the top three at the Class AA State Tournament at the end of her sophomore and junior years. She was a Miss Minnesota Golf finalist in 2018. Eldred is presently part of the Ferris State University Women's Golf team in Big Rapids, Michigan.
