(undated) -- The Quality Toyota/Alexandria Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" Saturday segments include recent recognition of Lexi Cole from the Cardinal Volleyball team.

Senior Lexi Cole from the Alexandria Cardinal Volleyball team was honored as the Quality Toyota/Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" for the period ending November 27th, 2020. Lexi was nominated by her Head Coach, Mary Byrne.

KXRA Sports Director Dave McClurg recently connected via telephone for an interview with Lexi. As the lone senior on the 2020 Alexandria Cardinal Volleyball team, Lexi was one of the Captains. Junior teammate Tessa McGrane also served as Captain for the Cardinals. Lexi shared her initial reaction on having her team's season shifted back into the fall season. In early August, the Minnesota State High School League's Board of Directors indicated that the sports of football and volleyball would be delayed until spring, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, following a groundswell movement by parents and other persons connected with the sports, the two activities were reinstated to a shortened fall season, starting in early October.

Reflecting on the nine-match season that the Cardinals were able to compete in, Lexi looked back with great feelings on different events that transpired during the fall, including a Senior Night win on November 10th against a Brainerd Warrior team that was 7-2 at that point of the season.

D-Mac also asked Lexi about the fortunes for the 2021 Alexandria Cardinal Volleyball season, being that the majority of this year's team will return next season. Lexi also spoke about her love for the sport of Track and Field, and she's hopeful that her senior year in that activity will be allowed to come to fruition. The pandemic cancelled Lexi's junior season back in the spring.

The interview below with Lexi Cole is just over five minutes in length. It originally aired on KXRA Radio Saturday morning, November 28th.

The Quality Toyota/Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" one-on-one segments for the fall season are scheduled to continue until late November or early December. The "Athlete of the Week" conversations typically air between 9:45 and 10 a.m. Saturdays following the KXRA "Home Grown" radio program, which is hosted by Linda Kellerman.

The Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" radio feature is sponsored during the 2020-21 school year on 1490 AM/100.3 and 105.7 FM, KXRA by Quality Toyota of Fergus Falls
