(Alexandria, MN) -- Tuesday's Cardinal Sports Report includes recent post-game reaction from two of the Alexandria Cardinal Girls' Soccer team's Captains.

During the late afternoon hours today (Tuesday), the Alexandria Girls' Tennis team will put its 5-1 record on the line against the Willmar Cardinals. One may anticipate a highly competitive match, which is slated for a 4:30 start. Both Alexandria and Willmar have been defeated by Saint Cloud Tech by 4-3 scores. Each also has a win against Apollo during the 2020 regular season. After today's home match at the Alexandria Area High School tennis courts, a road trip is ahead on Thursday for the Alexandria Cardinals.

Alexandria's Girls' Soccer squad will host Willmar, and KXRA Radio will have live broadcast coverage. Two seniors on this year's Alexandria team joined KXRA Sports Director Dave McClurg following a home win against Saint Cloud Apollo last Thursday. Midfielder Emma Reineke provided comments on being one of the rotating Captains on this year's team.

She and teammate Kamryn Coauette are presently serving as Cardinal Captains, along with Molly Panther, who has been designated as a Captain for the full 2020 season. Each of the rotating Captains holds that leadership role for 2-4 matches of the season. Coauette visited with D-Mac last week, to share impressions of how the season has developed so far.

The Willmar Cardinals have just one loss this season in four matches....Moorhead gained a win at Willmar on September 8th. The Willmar Cardinals followed that up with a 3-3 tie Thursday in Bemidji. Broadcast coverage on KXRA will start this evening at 6:40, prior to the 7:00 match.

Alexandria's Boys' Soccer Varsity players are still under quarantine, after one of the individuals tested positive for COVID-19 at the start of the Labor Day weekend. The resumption of play for the Cardinal Varsity is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, with make-up matches at home with Bemidji and at Willmar, respectively.

The Alexandria Cardinal Girls' Swimming and Diving athletes will be in Kandiyohi County this evening, for a Central Lakes Conference meet at Willmar High School. Competition is set for a 6:00 start.

KXRA Radio will air a number of upcoming Alexandria Cardinal events as part of our play-by-play coverage (weather and travel conditions permitting). Listen at 1490 AM, 100.3 or 105.7 FM, or stream online, through the new VoiceOfAlexandria app, presented by Glenwood State Bank:
