(undated) -- The Quality Toyota/Alexandria Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" Saturday segments have returned for the 2019-20 school year, with this feature including recent recognition of Joria Downing from the Alexandria Cardinal Girls' Tennis team.
Senior Joria Downing from the Alexandria Cardinal Girls' Tennis team was honored as Quality Toyota/Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" for the period ending September 27th, 2019. Joria was nominated for Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" honors by Coach Dave Ronning.
Before the start of the Section 8AA Tournament, Joria spoke with KXRA Sports Director Dave McClurg about a number of topics. She notes what the theme for her team has been during the 2019 season, and why the team has enjoyed the amount of success that it has achieved on the court. Joria notes that she is part of a group of five seniors that are on the roster, sharing some touching insight on senior teammate Annie Harding, one of her doubles partners who suffered a serious injury earlier in the year to basically cut her senior year short.
