(undated) -- The Quality Toyota/Alexandria Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" Saturday segments have returned for the 2019-20 school year, with this feature including recent recognition of Brooklyn Millward and Hattie Galloway from the Alexandria Cardinal Girls' Swimming and Diving team.
Freshman Brooklyn Millward and sophomore Hattie Galloway from the Alexandria Cardinal Girls' Swimming and Diving squad were both honored as Quality Toyota/Cardinal "Athletes of the Week" for the period ending November 1st, 2019. They were nominated for Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" honors by Coach Crysta Krause.
KXRA Sports Director Dave McClurg visited with Hattie and Brooklyn in the days following the Central Lakes Conference Championships, which were hosted by the Cardinals on October 26th at Discovery Middle School in Alexandria. Both provided details on the events that they typically compete in, along with reaction as to why the Cardinals have enjoyed the success that has been achieved in 2019. Alexandria finished the dual meet schedule at 6-4, which included a 5-3 mark in the Central Lakes Conference. The Cards followed that up with a third place performance behind Sartell and Brainerd in the CLC Championships.
Brooklyn and Hattie also shed insight with D-Mac on having the chance to compete in their home pool, which is and has been the site of three important competitions in 2019: the True Team Section 6A Meet, the CLC Championships, and just ahead starting this Thursday, November 7th: the two-day Section 6A Championship Meet. Section competition will conclude on Saturday.
The two honored student-athletes also talk about what they hope to accomplish in the Section 6A Meet ahead. Thursday's preliminaries are set to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the pool at Discovery Middle School in Alexandria.
