(undated) -- The Quality Toyota/Alexandria Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" Saturday segments for the 2018-19 school year include recent recognition of Olivia Rice and Hailey Gill from the Alexandria Area High School Archery team.

Seniors Olivia Rice and Hailey Gill were both honored as Quality Toyota/Cardinal "Athletes of the Week" for the period ending April 5th, 2019. KXRA Sports Director Dave McClurg recently spoke the two seniors that concluded their Archery season by competing on the State level at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center. The two ladies were nominated for Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" honors by Coach Al Hansen.

Two-year Captain Olivia Rice is being honored as a Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" on KXRA for the first time. For Archery teammate Hailey Gill, this interview marks her second appearance for a Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" chat. Last spring, in her junior year, Hailey was honored as an "Athlete of the Week" representing the Cardinal Girls' Track and Field squad.

As part of the discussion in the audio player below, both Olivia and Hailey talk about why they became involved in the sport of Archery. They share their most memorable moments while being part of the Cardinal Archery program. Hailey just completed her second and final season as an athlete with the Archery team in Alexandria. She offered some humorous insight about the first competition that she got involved with. Olivia feels deeply honored about being a Captain of the Alexandria Archery team for both her junior and senior years. She was with the program overall for four seasons, starting in her freshman year.

The conversation featuring Hailey Gill and Olivia Rice is slightly longer than five minutes in length.

The Quality Toyota/Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" one-on-one segments for the spring season will start in late April. The conversations typically air between 9:45 and 10 a.m. Saturdays following the KXRA "Home Grown" radio program, which is hosted by Linda Kellerman.

The Cardinal "Athlete of the Week" radio feature is sponsored during the 2018-19 school year on 1490 AM/100.3 FM, KXRA by Quality Toyota of Fergus Falls
