(Alexandria, MN) -- The Wednesday Cardinal Sports Report features information on the Boys' Tennis team's first match of the season, plus highlights a special honor for long-time Alexandria Girls' Basketball Coaches Wendy Kohler and Julie Wrobel.
Congratulations to Wendy Kohler....Minnesota Class AAA Coach of the Year and to the Cardinals' Julie Wrobel....State Class AAA Assistant Coach of the Year! The Activities Department at Alexandria Area High School made the announcement earlier this week. Coaches Kohler and Wrobel helped to guide the 2016-17 Alexandria Cardinals to a 26-6 record and a 4th place finish in the Class AAA State Girls' Basketball Tournament. Both of the coaches will join their daughters, Kendall Kohler and Macy Hatlestad to represent Alexandria at this weekend's Minnesota Girls' High School All-Star Basketball Series this coming Saturday, April 8th at Carleton College in Northfield. Coaches Kohler and Wrobel will guide the Class AAA All-Stars during the games this weekend.

Alexandria's Boys' Track and Girls' Track teams will travel to Sartell this coming Friday, competing in the Friendship Meet at Sartell Middle School. The organizers of the meet had kept both Thursday and Friday open. With milder temperatures expected Friday in comparison to Thursday, it was decided by the coordinators in Sartell that Friday would be the day to hold the meet.
