Jeff Hook

Alexandria Classic Clipper first baseman Jeff Hook connects on his second hit of Sunday's game with Becker.  Hook drove in three of the five runs in the game one win.

(Alexandria, MN) The Becker Buzzards have been a real tough opponent over the past few years for Alexandria's Classic Clippers in Senior Men's Baseball.  On Sunday, June 30th, behind some good offense and another good performance on the mound from Greg Serum, Alexandria claimed the first game of a double-header, 5-2.  Serum went the distance scattering 5 hits over seven innings of work.  Offensively Doug Breitkreutz led with three hits.  Jeff Hook collected a couple of hits, along with three RBIs.  Joe Korkowski also hit safely twice.  Kurtis Kuhn recorded one hit while scoring twice for the Clippers.

In Game two it was a different story.  Following a stellar outing last week Alexandria starting pitcher Doug Breitkruetz was able to only get through 3 1/3 innings and Becker managed to plate 9 runners over that time frame. Alexandria was still unable to score, and in fact, were held scoreless the entire game.  Korkowski came in relief for Alexandria in the 4th and managed to get through the rest of the fourth without allowing any runs.  He struggled with a little control to start out the fifth, filling the bases on two walks and a hit batter.  With one out Becker (the home team in Game Two) scored the game-ending run on an error, finishing a 10-0 rout of the Clippers in game two.  Offensively Doug Breitkreutz had three more hits for Alexandria, going 6 for 7 on the day!

The Clippers are 4-2 on the young season.  They travel to Verndale next Sunday.  Their next home game is scheduled for July 20th when they host Urbank at 4:00pm.
