(Alexandria, MN) In front of a jam-packed crowd at the Runestone Community Center, the North Iowa Bulls handed the Alexandria Blizzard a season-ending 5-1 loss. The first period was brutal for the home team with two goals scored early in the period. Nick Johnson hit the first red lighter 2:45 into the game. Blizzard goalie Ville Hyttinen faced 26 shots on goal in nearly 36 minutes in the net, giving up 4 goals, before being pulled. Alexandria faced a huge wall in the third period, down 4-0. Both team's managed a third period goal to complete the scoring. Clearly the frustration got to the home team as they were cited for 32 total penalty minutes, including 10 minute penalties for both Riley Scanlon and Dallas Duckson in the 3rd period. North Iowa spent 8 minutes in the box.
Alexandria native Jack Powell recorded the lone goal for the Blizzard on an assist from Joe Dokken. Alexandria had 33 shots on goal versus North Iowa's 38.
The Blizzard lost to North Iowa Friday night down in Mason City 3-1. Coach Jeff Crouse led the Blizzard to a 31-20 record on the season.
