(undated) -- The Minnesota State High School Coaches Association is honored to announce the 2018 Hall of Fame recipients, and Alexandria's Wendy Kohler will be one of the six individuals that make up the esteemed Class of 2018.
These Hall of Fame coaches will be inducted at the annual Hall of Fame Banquet on Saturday, October 13th, 2018 at the Sheraton West Hotel, Minnetonka. The social hour will start at 4:30 pm with the banquet to follow. Tickets may be purchased for $35.00 by contacting the MSHSCA Office at (218) 732 – 0204 or Jim Baker at (651) 357 – 2937.
The Hall of Fame Inductees have accomplished many impressive outcomes in the sports they have coached. They are joining a very elite group of individuals as they become members of the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Alexandria's Wendy DeVorak Kohler has been coaching Varsity Girls basketball for 33 years, all at Alexandria. During this time she has accumulated 579 wins which makes her the winningest female basketball coach in Minnesota. Her teams have earned nine state berths, highlighted with a class AAA state championship in 1997. Her team also took home the fourth place state medal in 2011 & 2017. She has been named section coach of the year 14 times and state coach of the year three times. She was awarded the Breaking Barriers Award in 2013. Wendy Kohler was inducted into the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2003. Previously, she was inducted into the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons Hall of Fame in 1999.

Craig Anderson (Pine Island) Has been the Head baseball coach for the past 40 years. During this time his teams have won 10 conference, 7 sub-section ad 4 section titles. His 526 wins are the 5th highest in state history for Minnesota high school baseball coaches. He was inducted into the Minnesota Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2007 and the National High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2013. In 2015 the Minnesota Baseball Coaches Association established the Craig Anderson Ethics Award in Coaching.
Scott Christensen (Stillwater) has been the Boys Cross Country and Boys Track and Field coach at Stillwater since 1981. Stillwater track & field teams have won five state titles along with the boys cross country team have also won five state titles. The Stillwater cross country team have finished in the Top 3 at the state meet 13 times and his track and field teams have done the same 11 times under the direction of Coach Christensen. The Stillwater track teams have won three Minnesota True Team State Championships.
Debbie Hegquist ( Cambridge Isanti) has been coaching gymnastics at Cambridge – Isanti since 1976 and Track and Field for 13 years. Deb was inducted into the Minnesota High School League Hall of Fame in 2003 as well as the Bemidji State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004 in gymnastics. Her teams have won 14 High School Region Championships earning them trips to the stae gymnastics meet. Cambridge Isanti holds the most AA state appearances record with 27 trips to state. In 2002 Cambridge Isanti placed second at the State AA meet.
Kerry Linbo (Byron) Has been at Byron for the past 31 years. During his tenure his teams have won six Hiawatha Conference titles and a Section 1AA title earning a trip to the state tournament in 2013. Linbo led bear teams have won over 22 games on eight different occasions with his 2003 team going 28 – 2. He is a member of the 500 win club with a total of 517 wins in his career. He was inducted into the Minnesota High School Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2017.
Mike Randolph (Duluth East) Has been at Duluth East for past 30 years. During his tenure his teams have made numerous appearances at the state tournament being state champions two times in 1995 and 1998. In 1997 he received the Nova Care Coach of the Year; He has been named Class AA Coach of the Year and the recipient of the John Mariucci award in 2013. On February 13, 2018 Mike earned his 617th win placing him 3rd on the All Time wins list. In all his teams have brought hardware back from the state tournament 16 times during his tenure.
