Once again, Carlos Creek Winery will be raising money at their Grape Stomp to support shelters for homeless animals. “Last year, we raised over $5,000 with our ‘Stomp For Paws’ fundraising efforts. The proceeds were shared with three area dog shelters, explains winery owner Tami Bredeson. “This year, we hope to double or possibly triple that amount and we are pleased to announce we have selected Lakes Area Humane Society as our 2018 funding recipient.” Fundraising activities at this year’s Grape Stomp include a silent auction on Sunday from 11am - 3pm.
The auction will feature items donated by many of the Grape Stomp vendors and artists, as well as items that have been donated by Carlos Creek Winery and other area businesses. In addition, Carlos Creek will donate $1.00 of every admission collected on Saturday and there will be a number of free-will donation jars around the festival grounds. “Our attendance on Saturday is generally 8000-10,000, so if we do well with the silent auction on Sunday and free-will donations, we could raise as much as $15,000,” says Bredeson.
The Grape Stomp is held annually the second weekend after Labor Day at Carlos Creek Winery in Alexandria, MN. This year’s dates are Sept. 14-16 and feature many vendors, musicians and grape stomping teams as well as Stunt Dog Productions a show featuring former rescue dogs that have been
trained to perform a wide variety of tricks. New this year are daily bagpipe performances and an appearance by The Viking Cheerleaders on Saturday.
For organizations interested in applying to be next year‘s non-profit Grape Stomp recipient, an application is available on the Carlos Creek Winery Grape Stomp web site, at: www.grapestompfestival.com.
