(Albany, MN) Eastbound traffic on I-94 was slowed following a fatal crash Wednesday morning near Albany.
The State Patrol was on the scene around 8:00am investigating a crash near mile post 144.
The Patrol says an International Tractor Trailer was traveling westbound on I-94 when it veered off of the roadway and crossed the median. The tractor trailer then entered the eastbound lanes near milepost 144 where it struck a Sterling Straight Truck and a Ford Flex.
The driver of the tractor trailer, a 59 year old Brian Dean Lemley of Sibley, North Dakota, died at the scene. Both the driver of the Ford Flex, 44 year old Tricia Jean Shoutz of Sauk Centre and the driver of the Sterling Straight Truck, 26 year old Eric Lloyd Bueckers of New Munich, were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Meanwhile an additional personal injury crash took place a little over an hour later at 9:17am at Mile Post 140, also in the eastbound lane. The patrol believes a Kenworth straight truck was traveling eastbound on I-94 slowing to a stop during a traffic back up when it was rear-ended by the GMC Yukon. The driver of the Yukon, 38 year old Kelli Ann Goebel of Freeport, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The truck driver, 26 year old Mert Gokce of Burnsville received non-life threatening injuries.
The State Patrol is investigating both crashes.
