(Glenwood, MN)  Two people are facing felony charges for attempting to solicit children for sexual contact. Both men were charged Monday in Pope County District Court with felony electronic solicitation of a minor.

Authorities have identified the men as Kevin Romuald Klimek, 58, of Glenwood and Cody Steven Linz, 21, of Avon.

The Sheriff's Office says undercover officers posing online as juveniles under the age of 16 were contacted by both Klimek and Linz. Authorities allege that during online communication, both men described sexual conduct and/or solicited the juvenile to engage in sexual conduct. Both men attempted to meet the juvenile for the purpose of sexual contact.

“Pope County law enforcement agencies strive to ensure those living in and traveling to our communities are welcomed and feel safe to travel about our local communities at all times,” said Pope County Sheriff Tim Riley. “Online solicitation of minors is a statewide problem and the Pope County Sheriff’s Office is working diligently to address the issue within our local communities.”

The Pope County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Minnesota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the West Central Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office and the Glenwood and Starbuck police departments.
