(Alexandria, MN)  The long-awaited trial for Jacob Elmo Larson is getting set to begin this week in Douglas County District Court.  The process of picking a jury in this matter continued Wednesday.  On Thursday afternoon Judge Timothy Churchwell will begin hearing testimony with regard to Larson's involvement in the assault of Steven (Beaver) Hlinsky on May 5th, 2018 in Forada.  Hlinsky died eight days after he was assaulted.  Last year, another suspect in the case, Troy Traut, agreed to a plea deal in exchange for testifying in the Larson trial.  On June 6th, 2019 Traut plead guilty to fifth-degree assault; one of six charges he was facing.   Larson is facing second-degree murder charges, aiding and abetting second degree murder, first-degree manslaughter and aiding and abetting first-degree manslaughter.  Larson has maintained a not-guilty plea and asked for a jury trial last August.  Larson is also facing two fifth-degree assault charges.
