(Alexandria, MN) Schools and businesses are closing and the snow keeps piling up with the latest October snow storm hitting West Central Minnesota. By 5:00am 4-5 inches of new snow has fallen and is still coming down at an alarming rate.

The State Patrol says troopers are responding to several vehicles slipping off the road into the ditch this morning.  The busiest area is around Alexandria.  The Patrol says if you see a vehicle with flashing lights on the side of the road please move over and slow down to help keep everyone safe.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning until 10:00pm tonight for Stevens, Morrison, Douglas and Todd Counties.

Heavy snow is expected. Total snow accumulations are expected to be between 4 to 7 inches. A wintry mix is expected today farther south across West Central and Southwest Minnesota...
