ALEXANDRIA, MN – The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has announced that the Minnesota Small Business Relief Grants Program will begin accepting applications tomorrow, Tuesday, June 23. Representative Mary Franson, R-Alexandria, released the following statement regarding the upcoming application period.
“Small businesses in our community have been struggling for months because of shutdowns mandated by the governor,” said Franson. “I believe that this grant program will give many of our local businesses the helping hand they need to make ends meet as they navigate this new economy. I am hopeful that businesses will be able to use this program to keep their doors open and continue to provide the jobs that are so critical to our community.”
Eligible businesses with 50 or fewer employees may apply for grants of up to $10,000. The application period will be open for 10 days, the maximum time allowed by the law, and will close at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2. A randomized, computer-generated lottery process will be used – in consultation with the Minnesota Lottery and observed by an independent third party – to select eligible businesses that will receive funding.
Eligibility requirements and application information can be found on DEED’s Small Business Relief Grants page.
