Hlinsky Suspects

Jacob Larson and Troy Traut were arrested in connection with the May 5th assault on Steven Hlinsky.

(Alexandria, MN)  In late May Douglas County Attorney Chad Larson added  2nd Degree Murder (causing death, without intent to effect the death, while committing or attempting to commit a felony offense), Aiding & Abetting 2nd Degree Murder, and Aiding & Abetting Manslaughter charges against Troy Nathan Traut and Jacob Elmo Larson.  The two men were previously facing first-degree manslaughter charges in connection with the death of Steven "Beaver" Hlinsky in May of 2018.  Chad Larson says "The facts supporting the charges remain the same."

The two men are accused of beating up Hlinsky outside a Forada bar so badly that he later died of his injuries.

Jacob Larson's attorney has asked the court to suppress part of a statement he made to authorities following the incident, and prior to Hlinsky's death.  Both sides of the argument are asked to provide written statements about the request within two weeks.

A plea hearing took place Thursday (June 6) in Troy Traut's case.  Due to the pending status of the Jacob Larson case, County Attorney Larson was only able to say that new evidence came to light this past week and that Traut will be testifying at Jacob's trial.

The nexthearings in either of these cases will not be scheduled until the County recieves a court ruling on the omnibus issues in the Larson file.
