Bull Kills Leaf Valley man

(Leaf Valley, MN) Authorities are looking into the death of a rural Douglas County man over the weekend. A family friend says a milk truck driver contacted the creamery to report that the owner of a farm north of Leaf Valley had not milked his cows Saturday morning. Attempts to reach the farm's owner were not successful. A relative found 41 year old Craig Allen Thoennes dead in the cattle yard and contacted the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to the scene and spoke with family members present. Deputies then located Thoennes near a shed in the cow yard with two cows and a bull also present and roaming free in the yard.

At this time it appears Thoennes had been trampled by the bull and/or the cows.  Friends say he was planning to get rid of the bull because it was said to be a dangerous animal. The investigation continues. The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office is looking into the cause of death.
