(Alexandria, MN) Fire Crews from several departments are on the scene of a fire at Raapers Eatery and Ale in downtown Alexandria. Smoke was pouring out of the back of the restaurant around 5:00am Tuesday morning as crews took shifts going in to extinguish the fire. It began hours earlier.
People have been evacuated from apartments above the downtown area on west side of Broadway. They are being cared for at the Fire Department, with help from the Red Cross.
Traffic been closed on Broadway from 3rd Avenue to 10th Avenue due to the fire crews on scene and the heavy smoke in the downtown area.

This is an active fire. Once crews are able to put the fire out they can begin the process of investigating the cause.
