Douglas County wants the public’s input on what to include in the planned park on Pilgrim Point. The county will develop an 8.2-acre parcel on the point which is located on Lake Ida. A swimming beach will be the most prominent attraction but there is room for other amenities. Park Superintendent Brad Bonk wants to make sure every single resident in the county has a chance to comment. “We are hoping all of our residents have the opportunity to help us make the best choices for Pilgrim Point.”
A short online survey is now available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RY6PRHW. Among other questions, it asks if residents would like to see a playground, picnic shelter, fishing pier and grills at the new park. The answers will be reviewed with Douglas County Commissioners. Residents who are unable to access the online link may call their commissioners directly or the parks division at 320-762-2966.
Additional details on the most popular options will be presented to the public, along with professional plans from Hagstrom Engineering, which has been retained to assist with the project. The county plans to remove old structures and construct a parking lot and entrance in 2021. The goal is to have the park open for swimming and picnicking in 2022.
