(Alexandria, MN) The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is officially releasing the name of the drowning victim from over the 4th of July weekend.  Authorities say that 30 year old Javier Miguel Castro of Alexandria was the man who drowned on the north end of Lake Carlos late Friday, July 3rd. 

Information was received that Javier fell off a pontoon into the water. Witnesses stated they could see splashing briefly before losing sight of him.  Link Link III assisted with an aerial search shortly after the call was received, then again shortly after sunrise. 

After extensive searches of the area, Castro's body was found Sunday morning, July 5th at approximately 10:00am by the Douglas County Dive rescue Team.

They were assisted by the Ottertail County Water Patrol Unit, Pope County Search and Rescue, Carlos First Responders, Carlos Fire Department, North Ambulance and t Lake Carlos State Park Rangers.

Through their facebook page Helping Hands of Alexandria has been raising funds to help the family pay for funeral costs for Javier.  As of this posting, the organization was $1000 shy of their goal.
