(Alexandria, MN) Unfortunately the forecasts have been right. Snow has blanketed the western half of Minnesota with the largest snowfall totals in Northwestern Minnesota. Many Minnesotans are caught up in the middle of having yards with the need for one more mowing, and trees above that just finally turned colors, full of leaves to be raked. Roads are slick and slippery in spots and luckily the high winds have not dramatically affected visibility. Regardless the State patrol and local law enforcement agencies are urging drivers to slow down and drive with caution.
Forecasts into next week show that all of this accumulating snow will melt before winter truly sets in. It does, however dramatically change the fall landscape as most outdoor vegetation will not be able to live through temps in the upper 20's.
