(Starbuck, MN) -- Shortly after 7:00 the night of Independence Day, a motorcyclist collided with a vehicle operated by the Starbuck Police Department.

The patrol car was operated by 28-year-old Officer Ryan Franks with the Starbuck Police Department. Just before 7:30 Saturday evening, Officer Franks was navigating southbound on South Main Street when he observed a traffic violation involving a northbound vehicle. As Officer Franks pulled to the right side of the road in an attempt to make a U-turn, with emergency lights activated to pursue the northbound motorist, the patrol car collided with a motorcycle operated by 60-year-old Dale Uhden of Alexandria. Uhden was also southbound on South Main Street.

Authorities says as a result of this accident, Uhden received minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital and was released the same day. Officer Franks was not injured.
