(Mankato, MN) A Morris man is being charged with several counts connected to a DWI and hit and run last Sunday afternoon in Mankato.
A Fifth Judicial District Court complaint alleges that 45 year old Micah Zeltwanger rear-ended another vehicle while westbound on Timberwolf Drive. That vehicle spun in the road. The complainant states that Zeltwanger then drove away. The man says he then followed Zeltwanger to an elementary school where he witnessed a nine year old boy get out of Zeltwanger’s vehicle and walk towards a baseball field. When confronted Zeltwanger was said to have run off and was allegedly trying to get into Rosa Parks Elementary School.
A police officer later apprehended him and said he noticed signs of impairment. A preliminary breath test resulted in a reported value of nearly three times the legal limit (.231). The nine year old boy said he was in the vehicle at the time of the collision and says Zeltwanger hit the back of another vehicle and kept driving.
Zeltwanger was charged with gross misdemeanor DWI and misdemeanor leaving the scene of a crash Monday in Blue Earth County District Court.
