(Alexandria, MN) Beautiful classic wooden boats will be on display this Saturday, July 8, at Arrowwood Resort & Conference Center, part of the 30th Annual Minnesota Lakes Classic Boat Show Weekend presented by the Legacy of the Lakes Museum. Classic watercraft from manufacturers such as Chris Craft, Gar Wood, Alexandria Boat Works and others will be shown on land and in the water. There will also be classic cars on display including Corvettes and Packards. In addition to the boat show, which is free and open to the public, the weekend includes the opening concert in the popular Music in the Gardens series on Friday night featuring Heart & Soul.
Friday, July 7, 5:30 pm: Captains cocktail party and dinner at the Legacy of the Lakes Museum for those showing boats. Register in advance at www.legacyofthelakes.org.
Friday, July 7, 7:30 pm: Grab a lawn chair and come to the Legacy Gardens and listen to the music of Fargo-Moorhead cover band, Heart & Soul. Admission is $8.00, and adult beverages and popcorn available for purchase; must be 21+ to attend. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. This week only: Purchase a season pass to Music in the Gardens for $30 – includes five concerts (excludes fund-raiser on August 4).
Saturday, July 8, 10 am – 3 pm: The Minnesota Lakes Classic Boat Show at Arrowwood Resort & Conference Center on Lake Darling features boats on display both on the grounds and in the water. Food and beverage is available for purchase.
9:00 am – Registration: Bring your old canoe, fishing boat, family boat or prize-winning show boat. Land displays are available. We welcome boats in any condition.
10 am – 3 pm: Land & Water Showing – See some of the area’s most beautifully restored classic boats and meet the skippers. Vote for your favorite!
2:30 pm - Awards - This is not a judged event. There will be a Skipper’s Award, People’s Choice Award, President’s Award and Best of Show.
3 pm: Boat Fly-By – See the boats in action!
The Legacy of the Lakes Museum and Gardens is dedicated to preserving and celebrating lake traditions and legacies through exhibitions, education and collections of antique and classic watercraft, resort memorabilia and sporting equipment used on Minnesota lakes. The museum is open May 23 – Oct. 31, Monday-Friday from 10 am – 5 pm, Saturday 10 am – 4 pm and Sunday noon – 4 pm. The Maritime Gardens, featuring walkways, water features and native plantings, is included in Museum admission. The Gardens also hosts a series of Friday night summer concerts that begin July 7.
