The Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Alexandria graduating class of 2019 assisted in building picnic tables for each new owner of a Habitat home this year. This was done in the Alexandria area on Thursday, July 11, 2019.

The Leadership Alexandria program kicks off each October with a two-day retreat, where participants learn more about their personality style, about working with different personality styles and about other key leadership traits. The class then comes together one full day each month from November to May to learn about the area’s history, the local business community, local government and more. Throughout the year the class is given the opportunity to choose one community service project that they will complete after graduation. This year’s class chose to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.

The class spent time at one of this year’s habitat build sites building picnic tables. This day consisted of teamwork, sweat, hard work, and lots of power tools. Four picnic tables were built by the class allowing each of the four new Habitat homeowners to receive a picnic table. These tables are a surprise for the new homeowners, as a gift to promote family fun and togetherness outdoors.
