DETROIT LAKES, Minn.—Starting Monday, Sept. 13, motorists will encounter a temporary closure and detour of Highway 59 between Barrett and Morris. Crews will be repairing the concrete pavement in areas north and south of the Highway 27 intersection. To allow the new concrete time to cure, Highway 59 will be closed for nine days.
The work will start at 8 a.m., on Monday, Sept. 13 with lane closures. Flaggers will control traffic until approximately 2 p.m., when the detour will be in place. Until Sept. 22, traffic will be detoured to Highway 55, Highway 27, Highway 9 and Highway 28. The detour route will add an additional 20 miles of travel, so motorists should plan ahead.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, and reminds them to slow down in the work zone and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
