This Is Serious Campaign

Horizon Public Health launches a health campaign to help people remember best practices aimed at promoting behaviors that can limit the spread of COVID-19, especially as the state opens up. The campaign is called “This is Serious.” and features a series of images that focus on 3 Ws; Wait 6 feet apart and avoid close contact from other people, Wear a cloth face covering and Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.

The campaign consists of digital and social media ads, radio PSA’s, billboard messaging and signage emphasizing personal responsibility and behaviors proven to minimize transmission of the virus. According to the Minnesota Department of Health data, the median age of confirmed cases in the Horizon communities has been between 35-40 years of age. For more information on demographics of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Horizon Public Health service area, please visit our website www.horizonpublichealth.org.

“By continuing to practice good prevention, we can do two things at once, help stop the spread of COVID-19, and responsibly and safely find a new normal in the midst of this pandemic.” said Ann Stehn, Administrator of Horizon Public Health, “But we can’t get caution fatigue and we must continue to be vigilant by taking the necessary steps to keep our cases down. It is our hope that these messages remind people that this is serious and it isn’t over yet.”

This campaign focuses on three actions everyone can do to protect our families, neighbors and workplaces as we move about in the community. In addition to the 3 Ws, everyone should: • Stay home if you are sick (know the symptoms of COVID-19) • Avoid close contact with people who are sick • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces daily • Follow current guidance set by the MN Department of Health and CDC
