(Alexandria, MN) Curiosity has turned into quite an interesting and popular event.  The Big Ole SUPathon began as an idea several years ago when Scott Larson came back home to Alexandria and wanted a unique way to see the many connected lakes in the county. Scott currently lives in Longmont, Colorado. He talked with Jason Lybeck about the idea of taking a stand up paddle board from lake to lake, in a competition. Jason, who owns Faction Marine, borrowed Scott the board and it got started. The first time paddling the 26 miles path from Lake Miltona all the way down to Lake Victoria, took Scott more than 11 hours, through some pretty big waves.  Jason talks about that beginning and the event itself. Scott went to school in Montana and studied glacial geology at one point and he became fascinated with the lakes in the Alexandria area and thought the Big Ole SUPathon would be a way for many people to explore the lakes from a different perspective.  (AUDIO BELOW)

The event is a fundraiser for the United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties.  Last year more than $5000 was raised for the local charity.
