(Garfield, MN) Friday evening an ATV went through the ice on a Douglas County lake. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says Brian Van Nevel reported to their office that his 2016 Honda Pioneer Class 2 ATV went through the ice on Lobster Lake. According to the complainant he and two friends were driving around Cherry Point on Lobster Lake when the ATV went through the ice in approximately 6 feet of water. All occupants were able to get out of the ATV's enclosed cab. A family friend says the ATV owner's dog perished after the vehicle broke through the ice.
The Douglas County Sheriffs Office reminds all users of area lakes that ice may appear to be safe but caution should always be used especially when traveling in areas that are unfamiliar.
