NEWMIE's NOTES

Blue Anchor's Field Mgr. Al Newman talks with KX-92's Michael Right about Northwoods League baseball, among other topics.

Each week, KXRA and Michael Right will talk with none other than the skipper of the Alexandria Blue Anchors, Al Newman. Newman is returning as the 2014 Field Manager of our Northwoods League Team. The college-age wood bat league was formed in 1994 and features many alumni currently playing major league baseball.

Al Newman is no stranger to success himself, and no stranger to Minnesota baseball fans. As a MLB infielder, Newman won two World Series titles. Both of those titles came with the Minnesota Twins, in 1987 and in 1991. After his playing career ended, he coached and managed in the Twins organization, and later became the 3rd base coach for the Minnesota Twins from 2002-2005.
