HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The Rev. Franklin Graham is urging Connecticut Christians to rely on God and not politicians.
The son of famed evangelist Billy Graham says he has "no hope in the Democratic Party" and "zero hope in the Republican Party" to solve what he considers are the nation's ills.
Graham appeared at a prayer rally on the state Capitol steps in Hartford on Thursday. He said "the only hope is Almighty God" and the most important thing Christians can do is pray.
Police estimate at least 1,000 people attended the rally, where participants braved rainy weather and waved small American flags.
The event was the latest stop on Graham's 50-state "Decision America" tour, during which he asks Christians to take a pledge to support, whenever possible, candidates who uphold biblical principles.
