Ben Iverson

A Willmar, Minnesota native, Ben Iverson has been hired as the next director of admissions at the University of Minnesota, Morris.

(Morris, MN) -- The University of Minnesota, Morris announces the appointment of Ben Iverson as director of admissions. Iverson brings to Morris extensive experience in student recruitment and advising, particularly in the domestic and international markets.

"I have long admired the University of Minnesota, Morris for its unique niche in the higher education marketplace," writes Iverson. "I am very enthusiastic about this incredible opportunity to join a well-known and unique public liberal arts college."

Iverson currently serves as director of international admission and advising at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He also has served Augustana as associate and assistant director of admission as well as admission counselor. Prior to joining the Augustana admission staff in 2005, he worked as an international coordinator at Bodoe University College (now Nordland University) in Norway.

Iverson will build on Morris’s robust record of recruiting students. The campus experienced an 11-year high in freshmen enrollment in 2013, followed by another strong year in 2014. "As the field of higher education admissions has become increasingly competitive, we have continued to attract students who appreciate the value and authenticity Morris has to offer," says Chancellor Jacqueline R. Johnson. "Ben Iverson’s understanding of the role Morris does and will play in this changing environment position us well for an even brighter future."

A Willmar native, Iverson graduated from Augustana College in 2004 with majors in international studies and Spanish. He also holds a master of arts in international education from the SIT Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, Vermont.

Iverson will begin his appointment on Monday, July 27. He fills the role previously held by Bryan Herrmann, who has become Morris’s next vice chancellor for facilities and finance, vacated by Lowell Rasmussen’s retirement late last month.

Through personal and academic discovery, the University of Minnesota, Morris provides opportunities for students to grow intellectually, engage in community, experience environmental stewardship and celebrate diversity. A renewable and sustainable educational experience, Morris prepares graduates for careers, for advanced degrees, for lifelong learning, for work world flexibility in the future, and for global citizenship.
