(Becker, MN) The cast and crew of the AAHS one act play took first place in the 8AA section final Friday, February 1 at Becker High School, earning them a trip to the MSHSL State One Act Play Festival.
AAHS' play, Antigone and Ismene, is based on Antigone by Sophocles. The story follows sisters Antigone and Ismene as they determine how to best honor their family. The cast includes senior Sydney Christenson and junior Isabella Greathouse as Antigone and Ismene, respectively, with senior Adam Klepetka as their uncle Creon, senior Colin Barten as Haemon, and junior Sidney Trousil as Eurydice. Also in the cast are junior Joslyn Swenson and sophomores Noah Capouch, Nick Nelson, Aubrey Kosters, and Regan Peterson. Junior Georgia Snider is the dramaturg/assistant director and sophomore Jacob Tiegen is the stage manager. Caitlin Erickson, Grace Schmidt, and Aubrey Minnerath are on costume crew, Kendra Scott is on hair/make-up, Matt Adolphsen is the light board operator, Conner Arndt is on sound, Olivia Rice is on props, Ryla Johnson is all-purpose crew, and Abby Sater is a crew alternate. Non-MSHSL crew members who contributed to Antigone and Ismene are Luis Otto, Emma Nelson, Ben Borden, Angelina Caron, Shaelea Karels, Bianca Wegner, Brett Strandskov, Courtney Hodgson, Natalie Larson, and Sydney Larson.
AAHS cast and crew will perform at the O'Shaughnessy theatre at St. Kate's University on Friday, February 8 at 1:30p.m. This is the fifth consecutive state trip for Alexandria Area High School's one act play.
