(Alexandria, MN) Theatre L'Homme Dieu proudly announces their line-up for their 57th season. It includes musicals, comedies and dramas spanning a century. The line-up also brings in Minnesota's greatest artists and arts organizations to the Lakes Area.
The 2017 season begins June 20-25 with Sweet Land, the musical, a lyrical celebration of land, love, & the American immigrant experience. It is produced by The History Theatre.
Next is a musical comedy produced by Troupe America on June 27- July 2 called Rise Up, O Men. In rural Minnesota, the ladies of the local Lutheran church fortify their flock with love, wisdom and the food they prepare in the church’s basement kitchen.
In mid July Theatre L'Homme Dieu brings in the Pulitzer Prize winning play The Gin Game. It features actor Raye Birk and is produced by Sidekick Theatre.
On July 18-23rd the Children's Theatre Company brings in the compelling drama Seedfolks. In a mosaic of America, Seedfolks is set in a vacant lot of Cleveland in a neighborhood that has turned over from immigrant whites to migrating blacks to a new batch of immigrants from Asia & Latin America, even as people remain from the earlier waves.
The final show of the summer runs from August 1st through August 6th. The Million Dollar Quartet, produced by the Old Log Theatre, is a musical that captures the memorable day when four Rock n' Roll greats made music history, fashioning an ideal blend of adrenaline, charisma, and rumbling rhythms into a sound that remains in our DNA today.
Theatre L'Homme Dieu also plans three concerts next summer:
- June 15-16 Yesterday & Today: The Beatles
- July 6-7 TBA
- August 15-16 Remembering Bobby Vee
