(Alexandria, MN)  The Andria Theatre's 2019-2020 season continues on December 5th with "The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe."

The play, dramatized by Joseph Robinette from the story by C.S. Lewis, originally written in the early 1950's, is a beloved story that really calls on the imagination and wonder of a child.  During the World War II bombings of London, four English siblings are sent to a country house where they will be safe. One day the youngest, Lucy, finds a wardrobe that transports her to the magical world of Narnia. After coming back, she soon returns to Narnia with her brothers, Peter and Edmund, and her sister, Susan. There they join the magical lion, Aslan, in the fight against the evil White Witch, Jadis.

The cast features a number of returning adult actors in Scott Giannone as the voice (and forward puppeteer) of Aslan, Alexander Randazzo as Fenris Ulf and Allen Alvig as Father Christmas.  It also reintroduces us to a number of young cast members who now get a brighter spotlight.  Allie Randazzo plays Young Susan and her brother in real life and on stage Addison Randazzo plays Young Edmund.  Lily Eken, plays Young Lucy.  Although only 10 she has been in several shows on the Andria stage already.  Another young actor, Jonah Heidelberger does a marvelous job of playing the role of Mr. Beaver. Delaney Churchwell shines as Mrs. Beaver with her comforting tone and welcoming personality.  Brian Fleming moves out from the role of the ensemble to the role of Mr. Tumnus.

The cast of 31 actors is laden with that mix of familiar and new faces. Max Duncan makes you feel like a gladiator stepped on stage with his deep voice.  He plays the role of the Centaur.  Gabriel Schneider is making his acting debut with L, W, W, playing the role of Young Peter.  Benjamin Mistele dutifully assists the White Witch in her evil plans in his role as the White Witch Dwarf.  That leads us to the White Witch.  Although her first acting role at the Andria Theatre, Sarah Feierabend has spent a lot of time engrossed in this story.  Perhaps that's why she does such a tremendous job of "becoming" the White Witch on stage.  You don't want to mess with her.

There are many other great performances contained in the rest of the cast.  It's a cast directed by Shannon Randazzo.  Shannon says her family has owned the book for more than 20 years.  She says they started a tradition of reading all seven books in the series to their children at a very young age (three of which are in the cast) and have watchedthem grow up as true Kings and Queens of Narnia.  Although not her first time directing, it is her first time directing at the Andria Theatre.  Some components that help shape the show include the large two-person puppet that makes up the character of Aslan.  It is quite remarkable.  The digital backdrops are also a welcome addition to the show.  The set was created by Alexandria high school student Regan Peterson.  Regan had a busy fall as he was also in the cast of Cinderella at the AAHS's Performing Arts Center in November.

Several members of the cast, including the show's director appeared on KXRA Radio's Openline Program on November 25th (AUDIO BELOW):
