(Alexandria, MN) It's one part reunion, one part "show-and-tell" and all of it, really good.  Nine Alexandria Area High School theatre alumni are in town, donating their time, to put on three shows this weekend as a fundraiser for current students.  Tyler Carlson, Tristen Chamberlin, Jackson Grove, Lindsey Knoll, Ryan Ledman, Victoria Long, Josie Nelson, Anna Peterson and Haley Wegner have all had main roles in past shows at the high school.  High School Theatre Teacher Jessica Chipman invited them back, hoping they would like to perform in an Alumni Broadway Revue.  Each answered with an emphatic YES.

The review features at least 20 songs from Broadway musicals like Chicago, Oklahoma, Wicked, Les Miserables, Newsies, and many more.  Chipman says, "I am so grateful for them and their willingness to volunteer their time and their efforts and and beyond that it has been just really inspiring to see how much they've grown in their abilities and into who they are as young adults, so it's been a joy to spend time with them in that regard as well."

You can hear more of our conversation with Jessica in the audio clip (BELOW):

The Alumni Broadway Revue is a fundraiser for the current AAHS actors who will be taking a trip in August of 2020 to participate in the International Festival Fringe in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The festival has a long history and draws thousands of acts each year. The Alexandria theatre students will be among those performing.  Chipman says they will get to experience a wide assortment of other artists while attending the festival.

Musical directors are Ray and Kayla Nobles.

THIS WEEKEND'S performances of the ALUMNI BROADWAY MUSICAL take place on May 31, June 1st and 2nd (Friday and Saturday night's shows are at 7:30pm, Sunday's show is at 6:00pm)

All performances are at Discovery Middle School in Alexandria.  Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for students.  Tickets are sold at the door.
