(St. Paul, MN) Since last Tuesday (May 12) the State Health Department has showed signs of COVID-19 flare-ups in the counties of Todd and Otter Tail Counties. In Todd County, the number of confirmed cases went from 42 to 87 in the course of a week. 21 new confirmations were reported in the May 20th report. Otter Tail went from 25 positive confirmations to 51 although no new cases were reported today. Including the addition of one more case today, Douglas County has added 7 more people to their list of COVID-19 cases since May 12th, totaling 24 now.
All of those statistics pale in comparison to the increases in Stearns County. They added 49 more cases today and one death. In the past week the county saw 319 more COVID-19 confirmations bringing their total to 1831.
Pope County added one case today (6 total) and the counties of Grant (2) and Stevens (0) saw no change.
Overall 645 new cases of COVID-19 were reported and 29 deaths. 26 of those deaths occurred at long-term care facilities. The total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 is 777 and the total number of confirmed cases now stands at 17,670 Minnesotans.
