(Alexandria, MN) On a day when the state of Minnesota saw yet another record number of confirmed cases of COVID-19, Douglas and surrounding counties saw the end of an historical week as well.  The Minnesota Department of Health reports 8,508 new cases of COVID-19 in Saturday's report, adding to the pandemic total of 213,582. 

In Douglas County alone the seven-day total reached 496 people, including half a dozen deaths in test-positive cases.  Nearby Stearns County's weeklong tally of cases reached 1773 by Saturday, Otter Tail County recorded 548, Todd County 230, Pope County 114 and Grant County 39.  Other notes from Saturday's report include another death in Douglas County.  This time a person in their low 80's was the victim.  35 Minnesotans deaths were included in the latest report, adding to the total since March of 2,836 confirmed deaths in the state.  1,981 of those were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.
