Gardening Brown Bag Series Offered

Join U of M Extension Master Gardeners for a series of informative gardening sessions offered through August free of charge without pre-registration.  These lunch-time sessions from noon to 1 p.m. are offered in conjunction with the Douglas County Library.  Bring your lunch or snack to the Douglas County Library Meeting Room and explore Minnesota gardening!

• Tuesday, August 6– Seed Collecting by Shauna Loxtercamp and Daisy Stahlberg.  It’s easy to save seeds and save money.  In the fall when seed heads dry you can harvest seeds from many flowers, herbs and vegetables like pumpkins and beans to use next spring.  Just be sure the seeds are not from hybrid plants.

• Tuesday, August 20– Sauerkraut by Lowell Anderson.  Come and hear about the benefits and fun of making sauerkraut at home.  We will talk about the old-fashioned way of making your own sauerkraut, a healthy food, full of probiotics.

To learn more, contact the University of Minnesota Extension at (320) 762-3890 or find us down the hall from the Douglas County Library.  For complete list of dates and sessions, visit https://z.umn.edu/GardBB .  We hope to see you there!
