Gardening Brown Bag Series Offered

University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardeners of Douglas County want to get you off to a great gardening season.  Join them for a series of informative gardening sessions offered through August free of charge without pre-registration.  These lunch-time sessions from noon to 1 p.m. are offered in conjunction with the Douglas County Library.  Bring your lunch or snack to the Douglas County Library Meeting Room and explore Minnesota Gardening!

• Tuesday, July 9– Lilies by Kathy Janke.  Do you love lilies?  Have you wondered how to plant and care for them?  What varieties will grow in our area?  Learn the answers to these questions and more.

• Tuesday, July 23– Houseplants by Robin Trott, Extension Educator.  Don’t suffer with the winter blues because you can’t be in your garden!  Learn all about growing houseplants and the satisfaction you get from your indoor plantings.

• Tuesday, August 6– Seed Collecting by Shauna Loxtercamp and Daisy Stahlberg.  It’s easy to save seeds and save money.  In the fall when seed heads dry you can harvest seeds from many flowers, herbs and vegetables like pumpkins and beans to use next spring.  Just be sure the seeds are not from hybrid plants.

To learn more, contact the University of Minnesota Extension at (320) 762-3890 or find us down the hall from the Douglas County Library.  For complete list of dates and sessions, visit .  We hope to see you there!
