(Alexandria MN) -- For nearly 19 years, Coni McKay has been the executive director at the Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. During this time the chamber has grown to nearly 600 members. Thursday night, June 16th the public gathered to wish Coni well as she prepares to retire on June 30th.

The evening consisted of a meet and greet with Coni and a short program at 5:30pm. Current Chamber President Mike Doyle Emceed the event and presented Coni with a Caricature Portrait. The Caricature Portrait is a chamber tradition. Each chamber presidents for decades now has received a portrait upon leaving office.

A special “Pot of Gold” drawing was held on Thursday night with past presidents pulling names of chambers members until a winner could be found. Former president Sheri Laven pulled the winning name, 3M.

Coni's final project at the office has been overseeing a remodel of the office space.  She comments in the related audio clip.

Coni’s final day at work will be June 30th, 2016. Tara Bitzan takes over as the new executive director on July 1st.
