Building Burns in Evansville Friday Night

(Evansville, MN)  On Friday, May 20th at 9:46 PM the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received multiple 911 calls about a structure fire in Evansville. The Evansville Fire Department responded to 552 1st Avenue West in the City of Evansville.  It was reported that an unoccupied mobile home was fully engulfed. The fire was extinguished, but caused extensive damage. The cause of the fire is unknown, so the State Fire Marshal was contacted. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

(Alexandria MN) -- 3M Alexandria Environmental Health Safety and Plant Engineering staff and workers received the 2016 Safe-In-Sound™ Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention Award from the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).  The NIOSH Safe-In-Sound™ Award recognizes companies in the manufacturing, construction and service sectors for those who demonstrate, by example, the benefits of developing or following good hearing loss prevention practices.  3M Alexandria was the only recipient of the NIOSH Safe-In-Sound™ Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention Award out of many applicants across the United States.  NIOSH is United States Agency responsible for conducting research and making recommendations to the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), and is a division of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Woman Sentenced For Embezzling Money From Vet Clinic

(St. Cloud, MN)  --  A Long Prairie woman will serve more than four years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing over a half-million-dollars from a vet clinic.  Sherry Lynn Anderson worked in the accounting department of Minnesota Veterinary Associates in Melrose.  Prosecutors say she took cash from deposits and altered her payroll.  A judge has yet to decide how much Anderson will have to pay in restitution.
